Individual Psychotherapy

Individual psychoanalytic psychotherapy will involve the person being treated and the psychotherapist looking for patterns or significant events that may play a role in the person’s current difficulties. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy works with the idea that childhood events and unconscious feelings, thoughts and motivations play a role in emotional distress the person is experiencing. It allows people to develop a greater awareness of themselves, their needs and how they interact with others. Often people find it more beneficial to attend more than one session a week. This decision is explored and negotiated between the therapist and patient and is a thoughtful process taking into account the patients needs and struggles.
